Andy Willsher is a photographer and videographer who has shot many music bands. In this interview Andy told us about this photo shoot with Placebo early in the band's career. Many thanks to Andy for his story!

Энди: Фотографии были сделаны около станции St. Pancras. Это было еще до реконструкции, она выглядела заброшенной, и ты мог прогуливаться около нее и сделать кучу снимков. Сейчас она совершенно другая.

"THE PHOTO SHOOT BEING REALLY PRODUCTIVE"
Anastasiya Loginova: Andy, can you tell me, please, about your work as a music photographer. Was this photo shoot with Placebo one of your first music photo shoots?
Andy Willsher: To be honest I'm not doing as much music photography now as I used to. I was working for NME magazine from 1992 until 2012. This shoot with Placebo was pretty early on in my career and also really early on in Placebo's career too.
Anastasiya Loginova: What do you remember the most about this photo shoot and, especially, about the band? What can you say about your impressions from working with them?
Andy Willsher: I was a fan of the band already and I think I had seen a couple of their gigs before I got to shoot them in person. The NME had a page called the 'On' page and it was devoted to new bands; this photo shoot was for that page so it would have coincided with the release of their first single.
Anastasiya Loginova: What did you get from this photo shoot for your professional experience?
Andy Willsher: I do remember the photo shoot being really productive; and we got some great shots. And I think the band and management company really liked the shots at the time too.
Anastasiya Loginova: Where did you take these photographs? I have noticed that it's a big hall or something like that in the pictures.
Andy Willsher: The photos were actually taken around St. Pancras station. It was before it was renovated; and it was pretty derelict and you could just walk around and take a load of photos… It's completely different now.
Anastasiya Loginova: These photographs are black and white. Was it your decision as a photographer or did you have to take black and white pictures for a certain magazine?
Andy Willsher: Due to the expense of colour film and the processing of colour films nearly all of the photo shoots for the magazine were in black and white. I also used to develop the films myself and then print the photos myself at home.
Anastasiya Loginova: Did you have other photo shoots with Placebo? Would you like to meet them now and do a new photo shoot?
Andy Willsher: I'm pretty sure that was the only time I photographed the band in person; I shot a few of their gigs after that, mainly at festivals I remember. I would love to shoot them again for a new photoshoot if the opportunity arose.
